Product Review: Juniper Organic SkincareOctober 2019
OK I am the first to admit I am super lazy with my skincare routine, let alone think of organic skincare. I liken myself to a guy; minimal as possible. A few years ago I switched up my skincare products to a natural, I won’t name the brand. I thought it was OK, my skin did feel a bit dry but I figured maybe that’s what it is supposed to feel like. I mean who knew… (probably lots of people, but not me).
Then I started following Juniper Organic Skincare on instagram. I entered a competition to win their eye cream, which was their new product release at the time. And I won a bottle! I never win anything, so to me it was like winning lotto. Anywho, their customer service contacted me and asked a whole heap of questions about my skin concerns, my skin condition, complaints etc (which was such a pleasant surprise!). Juniper then sent me samples of products they thought would help/compliment my complaints (for the record, I think my complaints were I’m old and that I blush easy ha ha).
Well holy moly, this stuff was amazing. My beautician commented something had changed, my skin looked and felt different. So here is my review, based on my experience with their products.
Why Organic Skincare?
The number one reason I wanted to switch and recommend to clients to do the same. Many of the chemicals found within non-organic products contain hormone-disruptors. Hormone-disrupters as the name suggests disrupt the delicate symphony your hormones do on a daily basis, leading to all kinds of hormonal conditions.
Have a think about how many products you use on your body each day; soap, moisturiser, face wash, face cream, serums, shampoo/conditioner, dry shampoo, perfume. It is a lot. Some of the chemicals they contain are sulphates, parabens, phthalates, and other potentially harmful preservatives. However, you can’t easily identify them in the ingredient list. Your skin is your largest detoxifying organ, it is also a giant sponge that absorbs the ingredients applied to it. If you can change even two products you’re using, it will allow your skin to do its job more efficiently.
Juniper products I started with
I initially started with:
– Calming Face & Body Wash
– Calming Jojoba Moisturiser
– Soothing Age-Defying Eye Cream
My skin felt soft, the splotchy tones had reduced, it felt more moist (hate that word, but it describes it well). Personally, I don’t wear make up daily, so the reduction in red skin tones was very important to me.
I then purchased the Antioxidant Skin Firming serum to use after cleansing at night. My reasoning? I’m 36, this skin ain’t getting any younger! Since using this I have noticed a reduction in my fine lines, particularly on my forehead. I want to age gracefully, I’m not worried about ageing, my laugh and smile lines are important to me, just not so deep.
Then after instruction from my beautician, I needed an exfoliant (who am I with all these products!!). So I now have the exfoliant too, which I use twice per week. It is a gentle exfoliant, my skin feels nourished and renewed after. I always thought an exfoliant had to be harsh, really rough and rubbed on hard (amateur hour, I know! Told you I liken myself to a guy).
Overall Skincare Review
In my opinion, Juniper Organic Skincare are absolutely nailing organic skincare. Part of the appeal to me was their price too, their products are reasonably priced, with most of their range falling below $30 per item. There are, again in my opinion, some expensive organic skincare ranges out there. I’m not ashamed or embarrassed to admit price is a factor for me. I am really happy with the way their products work for my skin, I will definitely continue to use them and change it up as this ol’ girl increases with age. If you’ve been looking for an organic skincare range, I highly recommend you try their products. I discuss organic skincare with some clients, and this is the brand I suggest, because I feel confident in the quality.
Until next time… x
